Abstract

Teacher performance is an important factor in improving the quality of education. However, problems such as declining teacher motivation and a less than fully supportive work environment remain, potentially affecting teacher performance in carrying out learning tasks optimally. Therefore, research is needed to determine the relationship between motivation, work environment, and teacher performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of motivation on teacher performance with the work environment as a mediating variable at SMK Taruna Karya 1 Karawang. The research approach used is quantitative with a questionnaire method. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires which were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the help of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results showed that motivation had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (coefficient 0.894; t=22.096; R²=0.832). Motivation also had a positive and significant effect on the work environment (coefficient 0.925; t=40.078; R²=0.856). The work environment was shown to have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (coefficient 0.480; t=2.480; R²=0.856). Furthermore, the work environment mediated the relationship between teacher motivation and performance (coefficient 0.444; t=2.496; P-values=0.006).
