Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of rewards and punishments on employee performance with work discipline as an intervening variable at PT Hurip Bintang Pratama. This study used a quantitative approach with a sample of 119 employees through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using the SEM-PLS method using SmartPLS. The results showed that rewards and punishments have a positive and significant influence on employee performance, as well as a significant influence on work discipline. In addition, work discipline was also proven to have a positive and significant influence on employee performance. However, rewards did not show a significant influence on employee performance through work discipline, while punishment had a significant influence through that variable. Simultaneously, rewards and punishment were also proven to have a significant influence on employee performance through work discipline. This study contributes to strengthening the role of work discipline as a partial mediating variable, as well as providing practical implications for outsourcing service companies in managing human resources.
