Abstract

This study aims to analyze the work discipline of staff employees and identify the factors that influence employee discipline levels at PT Tochu Silika Indonesia. The results indicate that employee work discipline has been generally satisfactory across all indicators— attendance, adherence to work regulations, compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), alertness levels, and work ethics—though implementation remains inconsistent, particularly regarding attendance and punctuality, especially under high workloads. Employee work discipline is influenced by internal factors such as individual awareness, time management, and attention to detail, as well as external factors such as environmental conditions and work pressure. This study concludes that work discipline is the result of the interaction between individual and situational factors in the work environment; thus, the consistency of its implementation is determined not only by the company’s systems and policies but also by the conditions employees face in their daily work activities. This study contributes to enriching the study of work discipline through a qualitative approach that emphasizes understanding real-world behavior and conditions in the field and provides an empirical picture of the dynamics of work discipline in the context of an industrial company with a structured work system.
