Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-management and time management in influencing work-life balance among students at Buana Perjuangan University in Karawang who juggle dual roles as both workers and active members of student organizations. Using a descriptive-verificative quantitative approach, data were collected from 105 respondents selected through simple random sampling. The results of Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) analysis using the SmartPLS 4 application revealed contrasting findings: self-management did not show a significant direct impact on work-life balance (T = 0.445; p-value = 0.656). However, time management was found to have a significant positive influence (T = 2.816, p-value = 0.005). With an R² value of 0.802, this model explains 80.2% of the variance in the dependent variable, while the remaining 19.8% is attributed to external factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings indicate that effective time management is the key for students to harmonize professional, academic, and personal demands in a balanced manner, whereas self-management functions more as an internal supporting instrument that enhances their productivity; however, it does not automatically guarantee the creation of a stable life without systematic schedule management.
