Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of green innovation and environmental compliance on firms’ environmental performance. The research employs a quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The sample consists of 116 observations from 29 companies over a four-year period, based on secondary data. The findings indicate that green innovation does not have a significant effect on environmental performance. In contrast, environmental compliance has a positive and significant effect on environmental performance. Simultaneously, green innovation and environmental compliance have low explanatory power in explaining variations in enviromental performance, as indicated by an R-Square value of 0.026. the results suggest that compliance with environmental regulations plays a more important role in improving environmental performance than green innovation. This study contributes by providing empirical evidence that green innovation does not always have a direct impact on environmental performance and highlights the importance of environmental compliance as a more consistent driver of improved environmental performance.
