Abstract

This study aims to determine the calculation of operational expenses, the calculation of Residual Profit Sharing (SHU), and analyze how expense determine the distribution of SHU by Credit Union Talenta Sejahtera for the period 2020-2024. The method used is quantitative descriptive, obtaining data from the cooperative's annual financial reports for five years and conducting structured interviews with the cooperative's management. The results show that operational expenses, classified into fixed, variable, and semi-variable costs, directly affect the dynamics of SHU. Increased operating expense in 2021 and 2024 caused a decrease in SHU allocation to members, even though the cooperative's income increased. Conversely, controlling interest expense, optimizing semi-variable expense, and increasing income from productive loans contributed to an increase in SHU in 2022 and 2023. The conclusion of this study confirms that effective management of operating expenses is very important to maximize SHU and ensure the financial sustainability of cooperatives. This aims to help cooperative managers better control their expenses.
